What means SUSTAINABILITY to us?

Life is an everlasting cycle. It gets passed from human to the plants and back to humanity. The Quality of our existence is eventually tied to our earth and its resources. The threat of increasingly scarce resources and the pollution of the world's oceans encourage us to use recyclable materials in our production. In addition, it's crucial for us to respect all the resources that enter our value chain.

Choose recycled. Choose life.

We are heading in the right direction, but we are not there yet. We are working every day to improve our value chain. You have an idea how we could improve our materials or production process?

Production

partner

Production site

We attach great importance to socially responsible and sustainable production, which is carried out in compliance with fair working conditions and wages.

That is why we work with only one partner in China, which we selected after a long research. So that we know for sure that our requirements, for example fair working conditions and payment, social benefits, occupational safety and vacation entitlement, are met, the factory is visited regularly by our colleague on site, who is directly employed by us. In addition, our partner is monitored by external experts such as BSCI.

Our partner has the ocean cycle certificate and works according to the GRS guidelines

Our partner has been engaged in the research, development
and production of recycled polyester for a long time. Starting from the procurement of bottle flakes and bottle bricks at the source to sorting and cleaning, chip spinning, raw yarn texturing to the final product it has been committed to the long-term development of environmental protection.

RESOURCES GET A WELL DESERVED SECOND CHANCE!

We are still amazed what you can create, through recycling and creativity, from former waste products and are excited about what new materials the future will bring. We mainly use the following materials for our products:

Sons-of-aloha-Kane-material
Recycled PET from the land

More than 60 million plastic bottles end up in landfills and incinerators every day. If they are left lying around in the landscape, they can often be caught up in the wind and rain and further get washed into the seas via streams and rivers.

Recycled Ocean plastic

It is estimated that some 8.8 million tons of plastic waste end up in the oceans each year and plastic makes up 80% of all marine debris found from surface waters to deep-sea sediments. Marine species ingest or are entangled by plastic debris, which causes severe injuries and death.

Canvas and Leather

The canvas is gained from cotton and the leather is a by-product from the meat industry.

The recycling process

Our goal is to create high-quality products made from recycled or organic materials with every single bag. In doing so, we are not only making a contribution to cleaning up our planet,
but thanks to our process, we are also giving resources a well-deserved second chance.

Products born from Water

WATER REPELLENT COATING

Our materials are coated with a PVC-free impregnation. This ensures that the bag is water repellent and durable for every kind of adventure.

TRANSPORT & SHIPMENT

As we directly ship from the factory, we reduce many unnecessary distances. Our products are mostly transported by train or ship freight, which is significantly cheaper and has a lower CO2 footprint. In rare cases, we use airplanes but only in urgent cases.

HELP OF PARTNERS

We prove effective in raising awareness of the dangers of plastics to our environment by offering communities engagement workshops, organizing beach clean-ups, promoting plastic-free products, and speaking at public events and in schools with the help of our partners.

8000 PLASTIC BOTTLES RECOVERED FROM THE OCEAN

Thanks to your help, 160 kg of plastic have been recovered from the ocean.

Talk Active

One of the important ways of spreading plastic awareness is Social Media. With the help of messages such as slogans,
videos, stories and photos on responsible behaviors we inspire environment activism. We use social media to help educate our followers and other users, their friends and families about the effect of plastic on the environment, social movements that already exist and are dedicated to helping minimize plastic waste. Our blog posts and relevant content on the issues of plastic problem encourages people to join an eco-friendly lifestyle and use alternatives that are less harmful to the natural world. Even such actions that may seem small and inconsequential can have a far-reaching impact that might just be the push we need to really make a national and global change.
