What does sustainability mean to us?

Life is an eternal cycle. It is passed on from humans to plants and back to humanity. The quality of our existence is ultimately tied to our planet and its resources. The threat posed by increasingly scarce resources and the pollution of the world’s oceans spurs us on to use materials containing recycled content (e.g. RPET) in our production. Furthermore, it is of crucial importance to us that we respect all resources that enter our value chain.

Choose recycled. Choose life.

We are moving in the right direction, but we are not there yet. We work every day to improve our value chain. Do you have an idea how we could improve our materials or our production process?

Production facility

Socially responsible production, where fair working conditions are upheld, is important to us. That is why we work with our partner in China, whom we selected following extensive research. To ensure that our requirements – fair pay, social benefits, health and safety at work, and holiday entitlement – are met, a member of our permanent staff visits the factory regularly. In addition, our partner is audited independently by BSCI.

Our partner has the ocean cycle certificate and works according to the GRS guidelines.

Production machine of recycled yarn

Sustainable material

Our partner has a long history of researching, developing, and producing recycled polyester. From the sourcing of bottle flakes and bottle bricks at the source, through sorting and cleaning, chip spinning, raw yarn texturizing, and the final product, they are committed to long-term environmental protection.

The recycling process

Our aim is to produce high-quality products made from recycled rPET or cotton with every single bag In this way, we help to keep resources in circulation rather than using up new ones.

Recycling Prozess

Step by step the individual stages of a SOA product:

The graphic above visually represents our recycling process step-by-step:

1. Ocean Plastic: Discarded plastic is collected.

2. Sorting: In the factories, the collected plastic is carefully sorted. Not all plastic can be processed into a textile.

3. Further Processing: The recycled plastic (rPet) that can be further processed is spun into a yarn.

4. Production: After the yarn has been produced, the product - e.g. the KANE Rolltop Backpack, is manufactured.

5. Transport: After our backpack is produced, it arrives at our warehouse in Germany.

6. Shipping: Every product is shipped in a resource-efficient manner.

7. Repair: In case of a defect, the product can be repaired in an environmentally friendly way or returned to the process.
