Summertime - hello!

Now is the perfect time to meet up with friends outdoors and listen to music, chat or do outdoor sports together!
And of course, eating outdoors is always part of the fun, whether it's in the nearest park during your lunch break, at a cool spot in the evening or in your friend's cosy garden. This way you're not only flexible and can create a relaxed atmosphere yourself, but you're also travelling sustainably and saving money.
Instead of pasta salad or sandwiches, you can now surprise your friends with something different at the next get-together. How about an exotic, fresh and super healthy Poke Bowl? (Of course, we were once again inspired by Hawaii).

It is packed with fresh vegetables, special extras and quick to prepare!

To make sure you can transport it safely and keep the sustainability aspect in mind, we have collected some container ideas for you in the last section!

And now for the recipe:

  1. You need:
  2. Marinate the tofu (or tuna) in a bowl with soy sauce, lime juice, maple syrup (honey), grated ginger and garlic. Then leave to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat some oil in a pan and fry the marinated tofu (tuna) until golden brown and crispy. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. As a base, you can now put the cooked sushi rice into the box.
  5. Arrange the avocado, carrot, cucumber, edamame and spring onion on the rice.
  6. Now place the fried tofu on top of the vegetable layer.
  7. Garnish with black sesame seeds and fresh coriander.
  8. Pour into a container, pack into your  backpack and off you go!

And if you don't have a bowl box to go yet, here are a few ideas for you:

  1. Glass/stainless steel box: Use reusable glass or stainless steel containers, they are leak-proof and can be used again and again.

  2. Beeswax wipes: Wrap your bowl in a beeswax wipe to protect it from leaks. Beeswax wipes are reusable, biodegradable and a sustainable alternative to disposable packaging.

  3. Silicone or fabric sleeves: Invest in silicone or fabric sleeves that are specifically designed to safely transport bowls. These sleeves are lightweight, flexible and can be stored in your backpack.

  4. Lunch boxes made from sustainable materials: Our favourite are boxes made from bamboo, corn starch or recycled plastic. They allow you to transport your bowl in a sustainable way and are also stylish.

  5. Upcycling: Use used containers such as canning jars, plastic cans or metal containers to store your bowl-to-go. By upcycling, you avoid buying new packaging and reduce waste.

    Enjoy it!
